Discover the journey: from studio to your everyday bag
There are many different ways for companies to work today, some are transparent and others only tell you part of their production, we at Bukvy want you to learn more about us and therefore we chose to write a post about how the whole process goes from making you an everyday bag to getting it in your mailbox.
Bringing home a perfect everyday bag is wonderful, but there is a long journey behind it. In this post, you get to see how an everyday bag from Bukvy is designed, made, and assembled before it finally ends up with you.
Let's begin
Step 1: Manufacturing the everyday bags
- The journey starts in Europe, where your everyday bag is made in one of our handpicked studios, in Spain or Portugal.
- One of our biggest goals are that we want you to get a bag that is designed to last a long time and is done in a place where everyone works with good conditions.
- An everyday bag that is made within the rules of the EU and has followed protocols when it comes to handling the leather so the environment stays the same but also gets better with slow fashion.
Working conditions & Manfactures
Let's go deeper into good working conditions, we have chosen to work with studios that we have visited and that we frequently communicate with to ensure that the workers have a healthy and safe working environment. Our regular visits and open dialogue with these studios allow us to confirm that all employees receive fair wages and that their rights are respected.
- We also want everything that is produced to follow EU laws. This includes not only compliance with labor laws but also environmental standards.
- We insist that the leather used in our products comes from European meat production, where every part of the animal is utilized and managed responsibly. This approach minimizes waste and supports sustainable practices within the industry.
When we choose to work with a studio, we want them to have the same values as us, to believe in slow fashion and to produce things in an environmentally friendly and legal way.
Tannery Process
In addition to thinking a lot about the animals and also the production, we also think about how the leather should be kept, so we are constantly working to find manufacturing companies that take care of the chrome that is used in the tannery process, so that it does not harm our environment.
By using good factories, our products are better for the environment but also reduces the chance of damage and lasts longer which is more environmentally friendly in the long run.
You can find out more about our range here, we have everyday bags in lots of different sizes and even unique ones that you can wear in several different ways.
As mentioned before, we do not use any tanneries that have chemicals that can be dangerous for you but also the environment. You can read more about it on the following blog post: Here: Bukvy and Ethical fashion production: Fair working conditions in leather manufacturing.
Step 2 - Checking the everyday bags
After the production of your bukvy everyday bag, the everyday bag is carefully checked by the staff in the European factory for any defects or damage such as scratches, loose threads, etc.
Photos and videos gets also send to us to review the everyday bags.
This is possible because we don't over produce our products we always produce the exact amount we need, for example if we want to set a goal to sell 40 bags we will only produce 40 pieces and if they get sold out, we produce once again then its time for it.
Producing a small amount of everyday bags reduces the chances of bags being the manafactured wrong and having issues.
Step 3: To our warehouse
Now your everyday bags are packed carefully from the warehouse in Europe and stored in a truck which then drives to Sweden with the bags. They drive to our warehouse in Mölnlycke where one of our employees collects the delivery.
The goods are unpacked and checked for a second time. In Mölnlycke the goods are checked if there has been any damage to the bag during transportation, the stitches on the bags, the colors and the amount of everyday bags that have been delivered.
If there are any damages to a everyday bag, we will try to fix it and if the item has a bigger cosmetic problem, it will be fixed as well as possible and be offered for a reduced price.
On our website you can take a look at our sample sale, where you can find everyday bags that have some small beauty flaws for a more reduced price. It may be that the bag has a mark, the wrong color or that it has been broken somewhere, simply just some beauty spots. The everyday bag can be used without any problems at all. This is the journey of how we at buvy make your everyday bag. We think a lot about the environment as we only work with studios that follow the eu laws and use leather in the right way.
We avoid using chemicals on our products to give you a good experience with your everyday bags but also so that it does not destroy the environment in any way.
We at bukvy are grateful to everyone that chooses us and helps to change the environment with slow fashion and making the right choice.
